apt-get update is not working(solution)

After installing Kali Linux it is required to update and upgrade your system. In most of the cases apt-get update && upgrade not works, it shows errors.

So in this tutorial we will learn how to fix this issue.

Let's start.

Step-1) Open Firefox browser.

Step-2) Then click on Kali Docs in the status bar of firefox.

                               

Step-3) Now scroll down and click on Kali sources.list Repositories.

                            

Step-4) Find your kali linux version, leatest version is Kali rooling.
Copy Repositories.

                            

Step-5) Now open source.list file. you can open with terminal or manually in your computer drive. Location will be /etc/apt/sources.list. 

For terminal type leafpad /etc/apt/sources.list 

Step-6) Now cut(remove) the old repositories and paste new repositories.

             deb http://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main contrib non-free

# For source package access, uncomment the following line
# deb-src http://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main contrib non-free

Erase # from 2nd line of repositories and
replace http//http.kali.org with http//repo.kali.org.

             

         

deb http://repo.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main contrib non-free

# For source package access, uncomment the following line

deb-src http://repo.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main contrib non-free

             

  

Step-6) Save this file and exit.

now write apt-get update && upgrade in your terminal.
